What World Class 4 Kids Could Be…

I have been toying around with this idea for about a year and I am finally putting it in motion. I originally posted this in June and am hoping the lack of response was because it was summer break for many people.

I would like my class to get together with one to three other classes (ages ranging from 9 to 12 year olds) about every two weeks via Skype for about 30 to 45 minutes. Even if your kids are a different age, please leave your info. and I may be able to hook you up with other classes.

Each week we would discuss a different query, or topic. The first week could be this lesson: http://ed.ted.com/on/JM9nDPki.  I would like to have kids share their ideas and feelings to promote tolerance and understanding especially between different cultures.  In addition, I would like to build a relationship between us. We could have students blog to each other, the possibilities are endless.

I would love to have three to four different countries, but if that isn’t possible that is ok. Time zone differences may be an issue but we could try to make it work. In addition, I would like teachers to provide suggestions for possible queries or topics on WallWisher. The format of how we would begin and conduct discussions is open. Perhaps I could begin the first week by welcoming everyone and introducing the topic or question. We could move from one class to the next. Students would share their thoughts and ideas, and also quietly reflect on what others have said. If you are interested, please visit this Google Doc. I also have this posted on Skype as a Skype Lesson so please visit that as well!
